Award-Winning Choir Seeks Young Voices
[INDIANAPOLIS, IN - April 27, 2011] - Do you love to sing fun music and travel to exciting places while also making new friends and helping others through community outreach? Young Voices might be just the right choir program for you.
The Young Voices of Indianapolis is holding auditions for the 2011 - 2012 Season now through June 1, 2011. Auditions are being held at the St. Richard's School, 33 East 33rd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46205. Call Artistic Director, Marian Bender at 317.926.0425 Ext.302 to make an appointment to audition or to inquire about the choirs. Hurry! Spaces fill quickly! .

When: April 27 - June 1, 2011

What: Auditions held for Concert Choir, boys and girls in 5th - 12th grades and Encore Singers, girls in 7th - 12th grade. We are also accepting applications for the Cherub Choir, boys and girls in Kindergarten - 1st grade and the Preparatory Choir, boys and girls in 2nd - 5th grades. Children in these ensembles do not need to audition but to simply register.

Where: St. Richard's School by appointment only.

How: Contact Marian Bender at 317.926.0425 Ext.302 or mbender@yvindy.org to schedule an audition or for more information! Auditions take 10 - 15 minutes. Plan to sing one song for the audition.

Singers auditioning for the Concert Choir or the Encore Singers will be asked to sing one song and vocalize with provided accompanist to check vocal range and rate pitch matching skills. Auditions will last 10 - 15 minutes. Though auditioning is a necessary part of Young Voices membership process, the purpose of the audition is not to intimidate but as enjoyable and encouraging as possible.

CONCERT CHOIR WINS THE COVETED GOLD AWARD IN HAWAII!
March 29-April 4 2011, the Young Voices Concert Choir traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii to participate in the Heritage Choral Festival. The choir enjoyed snorkeling Hanauma Bay, sunset dinner on the beach, Pearl Harbor, Secret Island Tour and much more! The choir performed the last day in Hawaii and not only received the gold but was invited to participate in the Carnegie Hall National Honor Choir in New York City.

Young Voices of Indianapolis Wins Big in the Windy City
[INDIANAPOLIS, IN - March 26, 2010] - The Young Voices of Indianapolis is thrilled to announce the results of its Festival of Gold competition in Chicago, IL on March 19th - 23rd. Young Voices, one of four finalists out of twelve choirs were chosen to sing at the Encore Concert at Orchestra Hall. The Concert Choir sang to a full house and received a standing ovation when they finished singing. They returned home with two beautiful 'Crystal Diamond' trophies which will be on display in the music room at St. Richard's School at 33rd & Meridian.

The Concert Choir is the largest group of Young Voices of Indianapolis and involves children in grades 5 - 9. Fundamental elements of this group include community service work, partnerships with charities and performance opportunities throughout the area. Concert Choir members also enjoy touring nationally (every year) and internationally (every three years).

"Needless to say, the children sang beautifully and I could not be more proud if I were their own parents! The singers were well behaved and had a blast!" Marian Bender, YVI Founder and Artistic Director, said.
